BREAKING: Obama Signs Indefinite Detention Bill Into Law Today

American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU)
Saturday December 31, 201

WASHINGTON – President Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) into law today. The statute contains a sweeping worldwide indefinite detention provision.  While President Obama issued a signing statement saying he had “serious reservations” about the provisions, the statement only applies to how his administration would use the authorities granted by the NDAA, and would not affect how the law is interpreted by subsequent administrations.  The White House had threatened to veto an earlier version of the NDAA, but reversed course shortly before Congress voted on the final bill.

“President Obama’s action today is a blight on his legacy because he will forever be known as the president who signed indefinite detention without charge or trial into law,” said Anthony D. Romero, ACLU executive director. “The statute is particularly dangerous because it has no temporal or geographic limitations, and can be used by this and future presidents to militarily detain people captured far from any battlefield.  The ACLU will fight worldwide detention authority wherever we can, be it in court, in Congress, or internationally.”

Under the Bush administration, similar claims of worldwide detention authority were used to hold even a U.S. citizen detained on U.S. soil in military custody, and many in Congress now assert that the NDAA should be used in the same way again. The ACLU believes that any military detention of American citizens or others within the United States is unconstitutional and illegal, including under the NDAA. In addition, the breadth of the NDAA’s detention authority violates international law because it is not limited to people captured in the context of an actual armed conflict as required by the laws of war.

“We are incredibly disappointed that President Obama signed this new law even though his administration had already claimed overly broad detention authority in court,” said Romero. “Any hope that the Obama administration would roll back the constitutional excesses of George Bush in the war on terror was extinguished today. Thankfully, we have three branches of government, and the final word belongs to the Supreme Court, which has yet to rule on the scope of detention authority. But Congress and the president also have a role to play in cleaning up the mess they have created because no American citizen or anyone else should live in fear of this or any future president misusing the NDAA’s detention authority.”

The bill also contains provisions making it difficult to transfer suspects out of military detention, which prompted FBI Director Robert Mueller to testify that it could jeopardize criminal investigations.  It also restricts the transfers of cleared detainees from the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay to foreign countries for resettlement or repatriation, making it more difficult to close Guantanamo, as President Obama pledged to do in one of his first acts in office.

Ron Paul supporters blow up album sales for Kelly Clarkson 28 spots after she takes heat for his Twitter endorsement

December 31, 2011

Singer Kelly Clarkson’s endorsement of Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul on Twitter Thursday cost her some long-time fans but those new ones are pushing her higher in the charts.

In an apparent shedding of skin, perhaps of even those who already had her album, Ms Clarkson’s loss of previous devotees gained her new ones in Dr Paul supporters pushing her album Stronger to number 14 on Amazon.com’s best selling list within 24 hours.

By Friday it was at 13, up 28 spots from her former rank at number 41.

‘I can’t recall ever hearing Miss / Mrs Clarkson’s music before but I support her in an obvious assault on her character by the Media for expressing her beliefs to her fans,’ one Amazon.com customer commented in a growing forum of mixed Dr Paul and now Ms Clarkson fans storming the album’s page.

Another customer wrote that they just bought two just to show their thanks to her.

‘Our goal is to put Miss Clarkson at #1 in sales as a show of our love for her taking a stand and not letting ANYONE sway her love of Ron Paul!’ a third customer wrote.

Obama Signed the NDAA into Law on December 31st, 2011: While Everyone was pre-occupied with New Year’s Eve

“9/11 Truthers are wrongheaded and irresponsible because all credible evidence so clearly and persuasively discounts their inane theories. And even in the immediate aftermath of the attacks, I never suspected that President Bush was involved.”- Conor Friedersdorf; Conspiracy Theories on the Right: Ron Paul Is Only the Beginning, The Atlantic, December 29, 2011.

“Paul knows where his bread is buttered. He regularly appears on the radio program of Alex Jones, a vocal 9/11 and New World Order conspiracy theorist based in his home state of Texas. On Jones’s show earlier this month, Paul alleged that the Iranian plot to kill the Saudi ambassador on United States soil was a “propaganda stunt” perpetrated by the Obama administration. . . .Ron Paul is a paranoid conspiracy theorist who regularly imputes the worst possible motives to the very government he wants to lead.” – James Kirchick; Ron Paul’s World, The New York Times, December 29, 2011.

The publisher of the New Hampshire Union Leader said that “Ron Paul is a dangerous man.”

He’s right, and he’s wrong. Ron Paul is dangerous, but in the same way the American founding fathers were dangerous. He is an incorruptible, tenacious, and principled fighter in freedom’s corner. The thugs and tyrants in Washington are right to fear him and call him dangerous.

Peace and freedom are dangerous notions to the war criminals in Washington and Tel Aviv, and to the media maggots who shamelessly defend them in the establishment media. According to these undeclared enemies of America and freedom, we must all accept endless war and permanent slavery like slaves.

But not all of us wish to be slaves. Some of us are dangerous because we think for ourselves rather than blindly trust our hijacked and fascist governments.

Dr. Paul should be dangerous to those in power who fear justice and truth and hate to see the U.S. constitution restored. He is a rebellious, moral, and courageous American with a huge global following. It is obvious why such a remarkable man is unfairly smeared as a racist, isolationist, and conspiracy theorist.

But he is none of these things. Dr. Paul is a genuine American hero and revolutionary, not a dangerous racist.

The new world order cabal’s only option against Dr. Paul is a smear campaign. They are out of bullets. They have to wage a useless media war and try in vain to neutralize him by destroying his good name because it would not look well if the shadow CIA assassinated him.

But since everybody anticipated the media onslaught against Dr. Paul after the ludicrous media blackout, it has not been effective. There is no surprise element in the newsletter-racism smear. 2012 isn’t an exact repeat of 2008. The tricks and smears have lost their poisonous sting. The American people have not been swayed by the media’s hateful and dishonest smear campaign against Dr. Paul.

Dr. Paul has what puppet Obama and the Republican retards do not: the love of the American people. Yes, love. It is a powerful force in politics. Don’t underestimate a people’s love for a good, old doctor who has the best interests of his country, and humanity, at heart.

In a sane and normal world, Ron Paul should be awarded a Nobel Peace prize for his tireless efforts to build a strong bridge of friendship and respect between America and the rest of the world.

But we don’t live in a sane and normal world. We live in an insane and abnormal world, that’s why evil warmakers like Barack Obama are given Nobel Prizes while peacemakers like Ron Paul are smeared as racists, isolationists, and conspiracy theorists.

It is a shame that the liars and sycophants in the American state media are attacking the only man in the 2012 presidential race who desires to save America from national bankruptcy and a catastrophic world war in the Middle East.

But we should not be mad at these media maggots. Petty pawns do not deserve our righteous anger. Our fight for freedom and peace is against the evil eye of power, not the worthless and shameless scum who are slaves to it.

Newt Gingrich Says Ron Paul Supporters Not “Decent” Americans

Jack Kenny
The New American

Obama Signed the NDAA into Law on December 31st, 2011: While Everyone was pre-occupied with New Year’s Eve

When Newt Gingrich said he would not vote for rival candidate Ron Paul if Paul wins the Republican presidential nomination, Gingrich may have forfeited whatever support he might receive from a sizable number of conservative and libertarian voters if the former Speaker of the House is himself the nominee.

Gingrich answered with and unqualified “No,” when asked if he would vote for Paul if the 12-term Texas congressman were to emerge as the party’s standard-bearer. “I think Ron Paul’s views are totally outside the mainstream of virtually every decent American,” Gingrich said Tuesday on CNN’s The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer. By its very nature the comment appears to impugn not only Paul, but his legions of supporters as well. The people who support Ron Paul share his views on most or all of the issues the candidate has been espousing in this and in previous campaigns. If those views are “outside the mainstream of virtually every decent American,” then the unavoidable implication of Gingrich’s statement is that “virtually” everyone who holds such views is not a “decent American.” Should Gingrich emerge from the primary battles as the nominee, even those Paul supporters who hold the former speaker in “minimum high regard” might be loath to support the nominee who has, in effect, called them indecent.

GoDaddy bows to boycott, now ‘opposes’ SOPA copyright bill

Declan McCullagh
CNet
December 30, 2011

GoDaddy, the domain register targeted by online activists in response to its enthusiasm for a pair of Hollywood-backed copyright bills, has finally denounced the legislation in response to a boycott scheduled for today.

Warren Adelman, the company’s chief executive, said today that “GoDaddy opposes SOPA,” meaning the Stop Online Piracy Act, which is facing a House of Representatives committee vote next month.

A GoDaddy spokeswoman confirmed to CNET this afternoon that “we oppose PIPA, as well.” That’s the Senate bill known as Protect IP, which will be debated on the Senate floor January 24. (See CNET’s SOPA FAQ.)

The idea of boycotting GoDaddy began with a protest thread on Reddit and was aided by Jimmy Wales’ announcement last week that “Wikipedia domain names will move away from GoDaddy.” It inspired GoDaddyBoycott.org, which urged Internet users and companies to “boycott GoDaddy until they send a letter to Congress taking back any and all support of the House and Senate versions of the Internet censorship bill, both SOPA and PIPA.”

Last night MSNBC host Chris Matthews spent a large portion of his Hardball program attempting to destroy Ron Paul’s presidential campaign.

In an embarrassing display of partisanship and outright bias, Matthews poked into every avenue he could in an attempt to paint Paul up as a delusional, paranoid, racist conspiracy theorist. Any non discerning viewers may well have gone away believing Paul was Satan himself when Matthews was finished.

After every sorry attempt to defame Paul, Matthews turned to his bewildered looking guests for reassurance that Paul was indeed a demon sent from the depths of hell to destroy humanity and plunge the planet into eternal darkness.

Watch the segment below:

After dredging up the already thoroughly debunked “racist” newsletters non-issue (Matthews loves injecting phony race talking points into his programming) Matthews switched tack to the latest media driven smear attempt against Paul, namely that he endorses deluded “conspiracy theories”.

CNN Poll Fundamentally Flawed: Romney Is Not Leading Paul In Iowa – New Iowa poll discounts independent, Democratic voters

Contrary to what the Mainstream media would have you believe today, Mitt Romney is not “surging in Iowa”.

A newly released CNN poll out of Iowa suggests that Mitt Romney is once again in the lead ahead of Ron Paul going into the caucuses. However, it is fundamentally flawed in that it does not take into account independent and Democratic voters.

The poll is making headlines today with other media outlets, such as The Huffington Post, claiming that Romney is once again on top in Iowa, having taken the lead from Paul.

Yet, as Nate Silver of the New York Times points out, the poll was conducted by using a list of registered Republican voters and registered Republicans only, provided by the Iowa Secretary of State

That means that independent and Democratic voters, who are easily able to register or re-register as Republicans at the caucus site, have been excluded from the survey.

As we have previously highlighted, a significant chunk of Ron Paul’s support is coming from independent and Democratic voters.

Paul Vows To Unite Occupy And Tea Party Movements: Congressman heckled by Occupiers at veterans event

December 29, 2011 1 comment

Steve Watson

December 29, 2011

After being interrupted by Occupy protesters during a veterans rally in Des Moines, Iowa yesterday, Ron Paul praised the movement, compared it to the Tea Party and declared that he was the only GOP candidate who could bridge the two causes and instill real change in Washington.

During the opening remarks of his speech to the hundreds in attendance, Paul was interrupted by protesters screaming “What about the children of the 99%?”

“You are a servant of the 1%,” one woman was heard shouting in Paul’s direction, clearly either unaware or ignoring the fact that the Congressman has railed against the Federal Reserve system for over three decades and was the only candidate staunchly opposed to the banker bailouts.

“I am a veteran, my husband is a veteran…” the woman screamed, adding “does he care about us?”

Well, yes he does. The Congressman served as an Air Force surgeon, and while in office has tirelessly engaged in constituent service work on behalf of military veterans.

He was the only GOP candidate to write to the president recently to protest the fact that military retirees are now facing benefit cuts under the administration’s proposed $1.5 trillion dollar tax hike.

Despite his fierce anti-war stance, Paul’s unwavering support for veterans has seen him receive more donations from active-duty military than all of the other Republican presidential candidates combined, as well as the president himself.

“Free Speech, aint it great!” Paul boomed as the protesters, surrounded by tv cameras and reporters, continued to make their points.

Watch the incident below:

Paul’s entire speech from the event can also be viewed below:

Following the speech, Paul spoke about the Occupy movement in favourable terms.

“Some people like to paint Occupy left and the Tea Party people right,” Paul said, “I think it makes my point. There’s a lot of people unhappy, and they’re not so happy with the two-party system because we have had people go in and out of office, congress changes, the presidency changes, they run on one thing, they do something else. Nothing ever changes.”

“The Tea Party and Occupy people are just tired of it all,” he said. “And they would like to see changes.” Paul added.

“The Tea Party movement started here, gets big, a lot of different people come in. I think the same thing has happened with Occupy. I put them together—I put both groups together. Because I think both groups are unhappy about what’s happening in Washington, and around the country, and the economic conditions.” The Congressman noted.

Paul’s full comments on the Occupy movement are included at the foot of this article.

Meanwhile, the Ron Paul campaign has released another new tv spot to be broadcast in Iowa and New Hampshire from today.

The 30 second ad, titled “Machine” focuses on the Washington political establishment and once again highlights how Paul’s rivals are part of the insider machine that has encouraged economic hardship in America through support of endless bailouts and unsound monetary policy, while he has consistently stood apart.

“Our new ad ‘Machine’ argues the point that Washington is populated with politicians and well-connected interests that serve themselves rather than a vulnerable public that relies on politicians to create the proper atmosphere for fair competition and growth.” Ron Paul 2012 National Campaign Chairman Jesse Benton stated.

“In contrast Ron Paul has always been above the fray and promotes policies and initiatives such as his ‘Plan to Restore America,’ an economic blueprint to help Americans recapture their constitutionally-guaranteed economic and civil liberties,” Benton added.

Watch the ad below:

Ron Paul’s full comments on the Occupy Movement:

That in a way is a challenging question, because along with that question, I get a lot of times asked about the Tea Party movement. The Tea Party movement started here, gets big, a lot of different people come in. I think the same thing has happened with Occupy. I put them together—I put both groups together. Because I think both groups are unhappy about what’s happening in Washington, and around the country, and the economic conditions. But their complaints are somewhat different.

The Tea Party people basically say the debt is too big and we should shrink the size of government. Occupation seems to be more addressing the subject of the very rich, and I think that can be a mixed blessing in the sense that in my talk already I’ve criticized many people on Wall Street and the people who get rich because they get special benefits from the government, whether they get contracts or whether they benefit from the devaluation of the currencies, or whether they get their bailouts, yes, we should address that. I think the Occupy people are.

But people who are wealthy in a free market who give an honest service or an honest product and they are rewarded by the consumer, they’re quite different. They have to be protected. We shouldn’t be jealous or envious of those people. So you can’t put them all together. So in many ways, I identify with both groups. There are some things the groups have changed a little bit. The first time the tea party movement was noted was December 16th four years ago when there was a spontaneous fundraising rally for our campaign. But it’s changed a lot. A lot of people come in. But I think it’s healthy.

I think if some people like to paint Occupy left and the Tea Party people right, but I think it makes my point. There’s a lot of people unhappy, and they’re not so happy with the two party system because we have had people go in and out of office, congress changes, the presidency changes, they run on one thing, they do something else. Nothing ever changes. And I sort of like it because I make the point that if you’re a Republican or Democrat the foreign policy doesn’t really change, even though there’s a strong Republican tradition of the foreign policy I’ve been talking about where we don’t get involved in policing the world. Does the monetary policy change? Do they really care about reining in the Fed? Would the Fed bail out all these countries around the world? More and more people know that now. But monetary policy doesn’t change

Do we ever cut back? No. There’s no pretense to cutting back. They’re not even talking about cutting back. They’re talking about a token cut to proposed increases. All that talk about cutting a trillion dollars over the next 10 years, they don’t even want to start until 2013, and then they want to string it out. And it’s just cutting what’s automatically built into the budget.

But the Tea Party and Occupy people are just tired of it all. And they would like to see changes. And if the conditions get much worse, the demonstrations on the streets could get much worse, too. And that’s what we have to be aware of. But fortunately we still live in a free enough society where they can speak out. If they violate property rights, if anybody violates property rights, they do it at risk. Because that means they’re practicing civil disobedience and they might have to suffer the consequences. But there are sometimes people believe civil disobedience in order to make a point on what’s wrong with our laws that’s, they have to understand, that’s the risk they take. But basically I think it’s healthy on both sides, both the Tea Party movement and the Occupy movement.

Calling the decision to abandon Bachmann a painful one, Sorenson said he felt obligated to join Paul as the “Republican establishment” tries to undermine his campaign.

Obama NDAA OK Draws OccupyMN Protest At Obama Reelection HQ

December 28, 2011 1 comment
December 27, 2011

Obama Signed the NDAA into Law on December 31st, 2011: While Everyone was pre-occupied with New Year’s Eve

Think bad thoughts about the government and you could go to jail…forever. That may sound like a Soviet-era law, but civil libertarians say it’s possible under the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which is awaiting President Obama’s promised signature.

The NDAA, was passed by the US Senate 86 to 13. Minnesota senators split on the act, Franken opposing and Klobuchar voting for it. OccupyMN organized a pre-Christmas protest at the Minneapolis Obama Reelection Headquarters. The act is characterized by the ACLU and many others as a major assault on the Bill of Rights.

The 600 pages contain provisions that allow indefinite detention by the military of anyone, including US Citizens on US soil, without trial and without legal representation. The act makes it virtually impossible to close Guantanamo Bay. The Occupy movements in many cities other than Minneapolis have initiated actions against this act.

(Nashville, Portland, Los Angeles) Military Officers have spoken out against it even though it grants the military extensive new powers. Montanans launched a recall of senators voting for it. Former FBI agent turned activist Coleen Rowley said, “This will apply to Quakers, to Catholic workers, to people that oppose the death penalty.”

All of these groups have been spied upon by the FBI. Ironically, this action takes it away from the FBI and “gives it to the military.” OccupyMN promises more specifically targeted actions on other legislative figures.

RECALL: Montanans Organize to Remove Senators Who Voted For Traitorous Detainment Bill

December 28, 2011 6 comments

Mac Slavo
SHTFplan.com
Wednesday, December 28, 2011

Americans were outraged after our elected representatives in Congress moved forward with over a trillion dollars in emergency bailout funds for banks, investment firms and failing corporations in the midst of the 2008 financial crisis. After tens of thousands of phone calls to the Congressional switchboard, overwhelmingly against the bailout funds, the American public was largely ignored by the majority of their elected representatives, who would eventually saddle taxpayers with a long-term debt in excess of $20 trillion.

In March of 2009, the American public resoundingly rejected the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (a.k.a. Obama Care) after it was made known that the bill would mandate, by force if necessary, that every citizen would be required to acquire health insurance. Not only did Congress and the President pass legislation that would, in a supposedly free country, require every American to forcefully pay for a service they may not want, but the more than 1000 page bill was written, introduced and approved before any Senator or Representative had a chance to read it, with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi famously saying:

“You have to pass the bill before you can find out what is in it…”

While those laws may be shamelessly contradictory to the fundamental Constitutional law of the land, and as outrageous as it was for Congressional representatives to ignore the American public’s calls to reject the bills, none of those come even remotely close to the most recent transgressions against the people with the passage of the National Defense Authorization Act.

As Americans enjoyed themselves with the holiday shopping season, Congress and the Executive branch worked tirelessly to destroy the 4th and 6th Amendments of the US Constitution, which protect an individual’s natural right “to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures” and ensure due process with evidence, witnesses, and public trial. The passage of the NDAA has prompted Senator Rand Paul to warn Americans that they could be considered terrorists for seemingly innocent activity and an an op-ed in the New York Times titled Guantanamo Forever? by U.S. Marine generals Charles Krulak and Joseph Hoar argued that the new legislation would essentially nullify aspects of the Constitution, saying “due process would be a thing of the past.”

One thing is clear with the passage of this legislation, and that is those Senators and Congressman who voted for its passage are violating their oaths to support and protect the Constitution of the United States, because everything in the bill is counter to the principles outlined in our founding document. As such, concerned citizens around the country are now actively pursuing grass roots efforts to utilize a never-before enacted power of the people: the recall.

Via The Daily Kos and Sherri Questioning All:

Moving quickly on Christmas Day after the US Senate voted 86 – 14 to pass the National Defense Authorization Act of 2011 (NDAA) which allows for the indefinite military detention of American citizens without charge or trial, Montanans have announced the launch of recall campaigns against Senators Max Baucus and Jonathan Tester, who voted for the bill.

Montana is one of nine states with provisions that say that the right of recall extends to recalling members of its federal congressional delegation, pursuant to Montana Code 2-16-603, on the grounds of physical or mental lack of fitness, incompetence, violation of oath of office, official misconduct, or conviction of certain felony offenses.

Section 2 of Montana Code 2-16-603 reads:

“(2) A public officer holding an elective office may be recalled by the qualified electors entitled to vote for the elective officer’s successor.”

While the Montana Constitution (and those of other states) allows for a recall to take place, there is some question about whether these powers, which are technically undefined by the US Constitution, can be used to remove acting Congressional representatives:

The website Ballotpedia.org cites eight other states which allow for the recall of elected federal officials: Arizona, Colorado, Louisiana, Michigan, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, and Wisconsin. New Jersey’s federal recall law was struck down when a NJ state judge ruled that “the federal Constitution does not allow states the power to recall U.S. senators,” despite the fact the Constitution explicitly allows, by not disallowing (“prohibited” in the Tenth Amendment,) the states the power to recall US senators and congressmen:

“The powers not…prohibited…are reserved to the States…or to the people.” – Tenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

The issue of federal official recall has never reached the federal courts.

Nonetheless, we may soon find out, as Montana is spearheading the movement to remove both of their Senators from office, as per the petition draft that is now circulating:

“The Sixth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees all U.S citizens:

“a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed…”

The National Defense Authorization Act of 2011 (NDAA 2011) permanently abolishes the Sixth Amendment right to a jury trial, “for the duration of hostilities” in the War on Terror, which was defined by President George W. Bush as “task which does not end” to a joint session of Congress on September 20, 2001.

Those who voted Aye on December 15th, 2011, Bill of Rights Day, for NDAA 2011 have attempted to grant powers which cannot be granted, which violate both the spirit and the letter of the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence.

The Montana Recall Act stipulates that officials including US senators can only be recalled for physical or mental lack of fitness, incompetence, violation of the oath of office, official misconduct, or conviction of a felony offense. We the undersigned call for a recall election to be held for Senator Max S. Baucus [and Senator Jonathan Tester] and charge that he has violated his oath of office, to protect and defend the United States Constitution.”

While there may be eight other states whose Constitutions allow for the recall of federally elected officials, the US Constitution itself has reserved these rights for the people of each state, suggesting that such a recall movement can gain steam all over the country, and may be our last best hope of restoring Constitutional rule of law to America.

Smear Attacks Have No Effect, Ron Paul Still On Course To Win Iowa: The establishment media is losing its power to sabotage the march of liberty

December 28, 2011 1 comment

Paul Joseph Watson

Wednesday, December 28, 2011

Despite a barrage of smear attacks from every single corner of the mainstream media over the last two weeks, Ron Paul’s chances of winning the Iowa Republican Primary have if anything increased, with a new poll showing Paul increasing his lead over Mitt Romney while the New York Times’ primary projection shows Paul’s chances of winning at 60% compared with Romney at 31%.

The sheer desperation of the establishment in its efforts to topple Ron Paul are staggering to behold. Everything from bitter former employees of the Paul campaign, to ludicrous You Tube videos of crying women, to the re-hashed debunked 15-year-old smears about ‘racist’ newsletters, every single piece of dirt imaginable has been thrown at Paul – but nothing has stuck.

This phenomenon once again illustrates the fact, as we saw during Rand Paul’s senatorial campaign, that the corporate press is now so distrusted by a significant portion of Americans that their coordinated smear attacks, which used to have the power to sink candidates almost overnight, are now rapidly losing influence.

It also highlights the fact that the smear attacks against Paul have been completely hyped and exaggerated out of all proportion.

Whereas Herman Cain’s adventurous sex life cost him the frontrunner’s position and forced him to drop out of the race altogether, likewise with Gingrich when the exposure of his true political inclinations decimated his commanding lead, the so-called scandals about Ron Paul are so transparently weak and have been distorted out of all rational proportions, that their impact has been non-existent on the polling figures.

That assertion is proven by the numbers – which show Paul’s lead in Iowa has held firm.

A new Public Policy Polling survey shows Ron Paul at 24% with Romney in second at 20% and Gingrich in third at 13%. That’s a one percentage point increase in Paul’s lead compared to the last PPP poll conducted ten days ago.

“Paul continues to have much more passionate support than Romney. 77% of his voters are firmly committed to him, compared to 71% for Romney. Among voters who say their minds are completely made up Paul’s lead expands to 7 points at 28-21. If Paul’s lead holds on through next Tuesday it appears he’ll have won this on the ground,” reports PPP.

In addition, the New York Times’ primary projection shows that Paul now has a 60% chance of winning Iowa compared to Romney with a 31% chance. Last week, the two candidates were level by this measurement but now Paul has pulled ahead.

If there’s anything that frightens the establishment as much as Ron Paul gaining the kind of momentum that could catapult him into the frontrunner position in other primary states, it’s the fact that the corporate press and all their simpering hangers-on no longer have the power to dictate reality.

The smear attacks have failed – Ron Paul is still on course to win Iowa and his momentum will continue to build.

SOPA is the end of us, say bloggers

The conservative and liberal blogospheres are unifying behind opposition to Congress’s Stop Online Piracy Act, with right-leaning bloggers arguing their very existence could be wiped out if the anti-piracy bill passes.

“If either the U.S. Senate’s Protect IP Act (PIPA) & the U.S. House’s Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) become law, political blogs such as Red Mass Group [conservative] & Blue Mass Group [liberal] will cease to exist,” wrote a blogger at Red Mass Group.

Some have asserted that the controversial measures would criminalize pages and blogs that link to foreign websites dedicated to online piracy. In particular, this has concerned search engines like Google, which could face massive liability if some form of the bill passes, some say.

“Of course, restrictions of results provided by Internet search engines amount to just that: prior restraint of their free expression of future results. Google and others, under SOPA, are told what they can or can’t publish before they publish it. Kill. The. Bill,” conservative blogger Neil Stevens argued at RedState.

UK prepares emergency measures for euro collapse to prevent an influx of people and money

Ministers are considering draconian plans to prevent a flood of money and people heading to Britain from Europe if the ailing single currency collapses.

Experts fear that the collapse of the euro would lead to the widespread movement of both people and money – with potentially damaging consequences for Britain if left unchecked.

The Treasury has drawn up contingency plans to prevent investors shifting huge sums of cash from the Eurozone to Britain – amid fears it could lead to a surge in the value of the Pound.

And it emerged yesterday that Britain’s borders could also be temporarily sealed against economic refugees from Europe if the collapse of the euro sparks widespread civil unrest on the Continent.

The Foreign Office is also working on contingency plans for the emergency evacuation of thousands of British expats and holidaymakers from stricken countries.

Officials insist the plans are being drawn up as a precaution – and do not indicate that the Government believes the collapse of the single currency is imminent.

Despite repeated attempts by Eurozone countries to prop up the single currency, many experts believe the 17-member currency cannot survive the coming year intact.

British officials believe that one or more countries, such as Greece and Portugal, could be forced to drop out of the single currency in order to tackle the dire problems in their own economies.

Ministers fear the break-up of the euro could have a devastating effect on Britain, dashing hopes of a recovery and sending the economy back into recession.

Anecdotal reports suggest some wealthy investors and individuals from countries like Greece are already moving money to the UK and buying property in London.

The Treasury, which has a central role in drawing up contingency plans for the euro’s collapse, believes a break-up could send international investors scrambling for a safe haven.

The transfer of huge sums of money to London could send Sterling soaring – threatening to crush the fragile recovery in exports which is central to the Coalition’s plans to ‘rebalance’ Britain’s economy.

Earlier this year the Swiss government was forced to intervene after nervous investors transferred cash there from the Eurozone, sending the value of the Swiss Franc to unsustainable levels.

The Swiss authorities moved to peg the currency to the euro.

The Treasury is planning a different approach which will impose strict limits on the amount of money that can be moved in or out of the UK.

Treasury officials are also drawing up plans to deal with the impact on Britain’ s major banks, which have a combined exposure of £170 billion to the troubled economies of Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Italy and Spain.

Elsewhere in Whitehall there are fears that a collapse of the euro could lead to widespread civil unrest – and even spark a flood of economic refugees.

Some countries are expected to ground all flights and effectively seal their borders to prevent the flight of people and money. British officials are said to be considering contingency plans to seal the UK’s borders in a worst-case scenario – although any attempt to prevent the free movement of people is illegal under EU law.

Despite repeated attempts by the 17 eurozone countries to prop up the single currency, many experts believe the euro cannot survive the coming year intact

Despite repeated attempts by the 17 eurozone countries to prop up the single currency, many experts believe the euro cannot survive the coming year intact

The Ministry of Defence has also been put on standby to help rescue British nationals stranded in countries that are plunged into chaos.

Other EU countries are also drawing up contingency plans.

Earlier this month reports in Portugal said the country’s borders would be temporarily sealed if the country drops out of the single currency.

Strict limits would be imposed on cash withdrawals and euro notes would be stamped with an escudo mark until the new currency was printed and distributed.

MSM Pushing Turnaround for Economy

Over the last several days, I began hearing a new description of the economy by the mainstream media (MSM)—“turnaround.” I can’t tell you how many different ways this phrase was used, but it was enough to get my attention.  I don’t know who comes up with this stuff or where it is hatched, but I think this phrase is the new “recovery” term.  Remember when we started out with “green shoots”? That phrase turned yellow and died.  Then, there was the “fragile recovery,” and that turned into just a “recovery.” After that, we hit a “soft patch” and that was just “transitory.” Now, we have moved on to the “turnaround.” Is the economy turning around?  The data says no.

Sure, we had a recent uptick in consumer confidence, and there was some improvement in car sales, but both are way down from their highs before the 2008 meltdown.  When it comes to home sales, well, the most recent numbers from the Case-Shiller index shows an ongoing disaster.  In the 20 city survey of home values, all but one market was down—Washington, D.C.  This is, of course, the home of the big spending government.  How much were home prices up there?–a whopping 1.3%.   The average year over year decline in the entire 20 city survey was a negative 3.4%.  Some markets, such as Tampa, Seattle, Minneapolis and Las Vegas, were down between 6% and 8.5%.  In Atlanta, home prices were down by nearly 12%!  (Read the entire Case-Shiller report by clicking here.)

Please keep in mind, these declines are happening despite a 30 year mortgage rate of around 4%.  Many say this is an artificial rate that is being engineered by the Federal Reserve.  What do you think will happen to home prices when interest rates rise to a modest 7% level?  Can you say second leg of a housing crash?  I’ll say it again, what “turnaround”?

Ron Paul Gains Momentum In New Hampshire

Michael Levenson
Boston Globe
Monday, December 26, 2011

Newt Gingrich’s surge has slowed and Ron Paul has gained momentum, but Mitt Romney remains the clear front-runner in New Hampshire with a little more than two weeks until the nation’s first primary, according to a new Boston Globe poll.

Romney has the support of 39 percent of the state’s likely Republican voters, a drop of 3 percentage points since last month but a strong indication he is weathering Gingrich’s national comeback in a state vital to his campaign.

In the closely watched contest for second place, Gingrich and Paul are tied with 17 percent each, just ahead of Jon Huntsman, who has the support of 11 percent of likely Republican voters.

The momentum for Paul raises the prospect that he, not Gingrich, could emerge as the strongest early challenger to Romney if the Texas congressman can hold on to his lead in Iowa and capture second place in New Hampshire.

Rep. Landry Offers Amendment to NDAA to Protect Civil Liberties

December 24, 2011 9 comments

Joe Wolverton II
The New American
Saturday, December 24, 2011

The National Defense Authorization Act will be made law with the stroke of President Obama’s pen (perhaps autopen from Hawaii?). With the enactment of the NDAA, Americans suspected by the President of having committed a “belligerent act” may be apprehended by the military and detained without recitation of charges and without access to an attorney until such time as the President decides that the “War on Terror” is over.

Majorities in both chambers of Congress voted in favor of granting the President this autocratic authority. In the Senate, only 13 members of that body stood up to defend the constitutionally protected civil liberties of Americans. In the House of Representatives, 283 of the people’s representatives violated their oath of office and voted to pass this legislation.

One of those who was true to his vow to protect the Constituiton from all enemies, foreign and domestic, has now offered an amendment to the NDAA that would “clarify the language” of the measure so as to make it explicit that no American citizen could be detained under the provisions of that act without being provided the full panoply of due process protections.

Freshman Representative Jeff Landry (R-La., above) introduced HR 3676, which would add the following qualification to the portion of the bill — Section 1021 — that provides for indefinite detention of Americans:

United States citizens may not be detained against their will without all the rights of due process afforded to citizens in a court ordained or established by or under Article III of the Constitution of the United States.

story from The Hill reported, “[H]e [Representative Landry] has a commitment from House Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon (R-Calif.) to revisit the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to ensure that language related to detainees does not give the U.S. government new rights to hold U.S. citizens without due process.”

“We have assurances that they would work to clarify the language,” Landry told The Hill. “I have a commitment from the chairman that the type of language I have is the type of language he would use to clarify that.”

As has been reported by The New American, A key component of the NDAA mandates a frightening grant of immense and unconstitutional power to the executive branch. Under the provisions of Section 1021, the President is afforded the absolute power to arrest and detain citizens of the United States without their being informed of any criminal charges, without a trial on the merits of those charges, and without a scintilla of the due process safeguards protected by the Constitution of the United States.

Further, in order to execute the provisions of Section 1021 described in the previous paragraph, subsequent clauses in that section unlawfully give the President the absolute and unquestionable authority to deploy the armed forces of the United States to apprehend and to indefinitely detain those suspected of threatening the security of the “homeland.” In the language of this legislation, these people are called “covered persons.”

The universe of potential “covered persons” includes every citizen of the United States of America. Any American could one day find himself or herself branded a “belligerent” and thus subject to the complete confiscation of his or her constitutional civil liberties and nearly never-ending incarceration in a military prison.

It is this immeasurable cession of power to the executive that Representative Landry and others fear. Landry reports that prior to passage of the NDAA, he conferred with proponents to make sure that habeas corpus and due process would be left intact in the new bill. He was assured that such privations would not be permitted according to the applicable sections of the act. Despite these promises, Landry submitted his amendment in order to close securely any loopholes in the law that may yet exist that could be wrested by the President (Obama and his successors) and used to unlawfully and unconstitutionally arrest and imprison American citizens in violation of the due process requirements set out in the Constitution.

Landry was quoted in The Hillsaying, “The problem we’ve had is that Congress over the last 30 years has just not done a good job of basically telling the administration through legislation what the confines of its power are. All we’re trying to do is say look, this is what Congress is trying to intend.”

In a statement released by his office, Representative Landry explained the impetus behind his proposed alterations:

The Founding Fathers granted Congress specific duties; and as a representative of the people, it is my duty to pass laws that protect the Constitutional rights of all American citizens. Toward this end, any statute that could possibly be interpreted to allow a President to detain American citizens without charge or trial is incredibly alarming and should be cautiously scrutinized.

This effort on the part of Congressman Landry is noble and he should be lauded for his commitment to the Constitution and its core civil liberties by which the God-given freedom of all Americans is protected from the frequent attempts at alienation made by the federal government.

Unfortunately, the language does not go far enough and the only solution at this point is for a courageous block of constitutional congressmen to recall the words of their oath of office and absolutely repeal the entire act as soon as President Obama signs it into law.

Furthermore, as all constitutionalists are aware, no half-measures, even well-intentioned ones, will ever serve to restrain a federal authority determined to protect its empire on the Potomac by having the congressional oligarchy hand a crown to a monarchical president.

As Alexander Hamilton warned in The Federalist Papers, such legislative attempts to reduce the scope of federal influence as a matter of course contain various exceptions to powers which are not granted; and, on this very account, would afford a colorable pretext to claim more than were granted. For why do we declare that things shall not be done which there is no power to do?

Now that Congress has agreed on a payroll tax compromise, Washington, D.C. will soon be a ghost town and consideration of the Landry Amendment will likely be put on ice until Congress returns to the Capitol in January.

Landry said that he hopes to present the bill to the House Armed Services Committee as soon as possible. On his website he provides a link to a colloquy (a formal, on-the-record discussion) with House Armed Services Committee Chairman Buck McKeon (R-Calif.) during which Landry was told that the matter would be given a fair hearing and the freedom would be preserved.

Ostensibly the debate in committee on Landry’s bill would shine the bright light of inquiry onto the parts of the underlying legislation that deprive Americans of their most basic of civil liberties. Furthermore, such deliberations might serve to ultimately restrict any malingering mandate of despotic power to the President.

As of the time of publication of this article, Congressman Landry is joined by 30 co-sponsors of his bill including representatives of both political parties.

Announcement of “Cold Shutdown” of Fukushima Reactors Is Based On a Political Decision, Not Science: If The Reactors Are “Cold”, It May Be Because Most of the Hot Radioactive Fuel Has Leaked Out

December 24, 2011 2 comments

Washington’s Blog
Saturday, December 24, 2011

The Japanese Government and Tepco say that they have achieved a “cold shutdown” of Fukushima nuclear reactors. Specifically, they claim that the water inside the reactors is now below the boiling point.

In reality, no one knows what’s really going on inside the reactors.

A representative of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission says it doesn’t know what’s going on inside the reactors (video at link).

NHK reports:

- At Reactor No. 1 they believe most of the molten fuel has fallen from the pressure vessel to the bottom of the containment vessel where there is no thermometer

- The amount of water has not been measured accurately with a water gauge and has only been guessed at

- Tepco has installed systems to test for new “criticalities” – i.e. new nuclear reactions – in Reactors No. 1 and 2, but hasn’t done so in No. 3 – so no one can even tell if there are ongoing reactions in No. 3

By way of background, the New York Times noted on November 30th:

“This is still an overly optimistic simulation,” said Hiroaki Koide, an assistant professor of physics at the Kyoto University Research Reactor Institute, who has been a vocal critic of Tepco’s lack of disclosure of details of the disaster. Tepco would very much like to say that the outermost containment is not completely compromised and that the meltdown stopped before the outer steel barrier, he said, “but even by their own simulation, it’s very borderline.”

“I have always argued that the containment is broken, and that there is the danger of a wider radiation leak,” Mr. Koide said. “In reality, it’s impossible to look inside the reactor, and most measurement instruments have been knocked out. So nobody really knows how bad it is.”

***

Tepco now assumes that “100 percent of the fuel at Unit 1 has slumped” into the outer primary containment vessel.

In addition, the simulation suggests that the fuel bored more than two feet into the concrete, Mr. Matsumoto said.

The Guardian pointed out on December 2nd:

Fuel rods inside one of the reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant may have completely melted and bored most of the way through a concrete floor, the reactor’s last line of defence before its steel outer casing, the plant’s operator said.

***

“Uncertainty involved in the analysis is significant, due to the uncertain nature of the original conditions and data used,” Tepco said in a report. It said the concrete “could have been penetrated”, but added that the fuel remained inside the reactor’s outer casing.

AP wrote on December 9th:

Some nuclear experts, however, question that claim because the nuclear fuel moved as it melted, so its condition and locations are little known.

AP noted on December 13th:

The government said Fukushima Dai-ichi has reached cold shutdown “conditions”_ a cautious phrasing reflecting the fact that TEPCO cannot measure the temperatures of melted fuel in the damaged reactors in the same way as with normally functioning ones.***

The complex still faces numerous concerns, triggering criticism that the announcement of “cold shutdown conditions” is based on a political decision rather than science. Nobody knows exactly where and how the melted fuel ended up in each reactor ….

As Mainichi Daily notes today:

We can only deduce that the “conclusion” of the crisis, rather than being based on scientific evidence, comes from placing priority on a political decision to create the impression that the crisis has been brought under control quickly.

***

The latest announcement that the goals of the road map have been achieved is merely the result of officials lowering their own hurdlesIt reminds me of the time during World War II when the Imperial Japanese Army headquarters called the Japanese army’s retreat a “shift in position.”

***

In a news conference on Dec. 16, TEPCO President Toshio Nishizawa called the completion of the road map for bringing the crisis under control a “milestone,” but a “milestone” achieved merely by lowering one’s own targets is meaningless.

Mainchi cites two examples:

One of the goals that TEPCO initially announced for step 2 was filling the reactor containment vessels with water. However, the utility abandoned this plan after it emerged that there were holes in the containment vessels. Eventually, officials decided to delay such measures for five years or more.

***

The company also established a goal under step 2 of “dealing with and reducing the amount of radioactive water” on the site, but when the road map was rewritten, it was decided that there would “ongoing treatment” of contaminated water after the completion of other processes.

Tepco has admitted that the fuel is under the containment vessels, and that corium – a radioactive substance present at Fukushima – attacks concrete.

Indeed, ongoing nuclear reactions have been confirmed in a variety of ways.

And the New York Times pointed out last month:

The unexpected bursts — something akin to flare-ups after a major fire … threaten to increase the amount of dangerous radioactive elements leaking from the complex and complicate cleanup efforts, raising startling questions about how much remains uncertain at the plant….

The plant’s owner admitted for the first time that fuel deep inside three stricken plants was probably continuing to experience bursts of fission.

***

It is impossible to determine exactly what state the fuel is in, given that even an intact reactor can offer only limited gauges in the form of temperature, pressure readings and neutron flow, but not visual observation. That lack of clarity is one of the most resonant lessons of the Fukushima disaster, where those trying to guide the response and assess the danger operated by what amounted to educated guesswork.

In reactors of the design used at Fukushima, that chain reaction is normally stopped when the operator gives a command to insert control rods, which rise up from the bottom of the core and separate the fuel assemblies. But when the cores of three reactors at Fukushima melted, a large part of the fuel presumably formed a jumbled mass in the bottom of the vessel, and without a strict gridlike geometry, the control rods cannot be inserted. Some of the fuel has escaped the vessel, experts believe, and is in spaces underneath, where there is no way to use control rods to interrupt the flow of neutrons.

***

The three reactors — together with spent fuel rods stored at a fourth damaged reactor — have been leaking radioactive material since the initial disaster, and new episodes of fission would only increase their dangers.

Re-criticality would produce more harmful radioactive material, and because the reactors are damaged, there would be a danger of a leak,” said Hiroaki Koide, assistant professor at Kyoto University’s Research Reactor Institute, whose prescient warnings about nuclear safety have won him respect in Japan.

Mr. Koide holds that the nuclear fuel at the three reactors probably melted through containments and into the ground, raising the possibility of contaminated groundwater. If much of the fuel was indeed in the ground early in the crisis, the “feed and bleed” strategy initially taken by Tokyo Electric — where workers pumped cooling water into the reactors, producing hundreds of tons of radioactive runoff — would have prevented fuel still in the reactor from boiling itself dry and melting, but would not have done anything to reduce danger from fuel already in the soil — if it got that far.

***

Tokyo Electric does not deny the possibility that the fuel may have burrowed into the ground, but its officials say that “most” of the fuel likely remains within the reactor, albeit slumped at the bottom in a molten mass.

But even in their most dire assessments, some experts had not expected even bursts of re-criticality to occur, because it was unlikely that the fuel would melt in just the right way — and that another ingredient, water, would be present in just the right amounts — to allow for any nuclear reaction. If episodes of fission at Fukushima were confirmed, Mr. Koide said, “our entire understanding of nuclear safety would be turned on its head.”

Some nuclear experts have debated for months whether nuclear reactions might be continuing, either in the fuel inside the reactors, or in the spent fuel pools at the plant. They have pointed, for example, to the continued reports of short-lived iodine in the spent fuel pool at Reactor No. 3.

A former nuclear engineer with three decades of experience at a major engineering firm … who has worked at all three nuclear power complexes operated by Tokyo Electric … said that tiny fuel pellets could have been carried to different parts of the plant, like the spaces under the reactor during attempts to vent them in the early days. That would explain several cases of lethally high radiation readings found outside the reactor cores.

“If the fuel is still inside the reactor core, that’s one thing,” he said. But if the fuel has been dispersed more widely, then we are far from any stable shutdown.”

Indeed, if the center of the reactors are in fact relatively “cold”, it may be because most of the hot radioactive fuel has leaked out of the containment vessels and escaped into areas where it can do damage to the environment.

Corporate-owned populist media (Yahoo) condemns Ron Paul in scathing propaganda piece, while the majority of fellow Americans comment in support of him

Ron Paul... Racist? Anit-Semetic? Homophobic? (Of course not!)

After perusing the web, it’s obvious that the corporate-owned mainstream media is running scared regarding Ron Paul’s meteoric rise among the GOP presidential contenders.  In an effort to diminish his poll numbers, they bring up scathing newsletter articles – supposedly written by Ron Paul that allegedly confirm his racist, homophobic, and anti-Semitic past – even though Ron Paul has repeatedly stated, again and again, that he never made such remarks.  Nevertheless, the corporate-owned media continue their assault on Dr. Paul as a means of propping up their own global agenda and their own political candidates (Gingrich, Romney, Perry, Bachmann, Santorum and Huntsman).

The mainstream media dogs are doing their best to divide and conquer We the People into sectors and groups as a means of diminishing our overall political power.  They think that they can influence our votes through smear campaigns and false statements, as if people are so ignorant as to believe what they read without doing their own research.  (It’s true that it’s so much easier to believe what we read, than to do our own homework, but most Americans – young and old – are knowledgeable enough to do the latter…)

Thankfully, their smear campaign is not working. We the People are waking up!  Yahoo put out a propaganda piece today entitled, “In ad for newsletter, Ron Paul forecast ‘race war’.”  Granted these corporate operatives are working really hard to influence certain Americans about Ron Paul through false pretense, information, and replies (Americans, mind you that are totally unwilling to take the time to do the necessary research).  Regardless, an overwhelming majority of intelligent Americans aren’t falling for the propaganda against Ron Paul as president in 2012.  (You see, you’re not alone in your belief , dedication, and your vote for Ron Paul in 2012.)  Below are just some of the comments in  favor of him under the Yahoo article:

Gingrich Labels Ron Paul’s Entire Support Base As “People Who Want To Legalize Drugs”: Newt boils down Congressman’s message in snipe attack

December 23, 2011 1 comment

Steve Watson
Prisonplanet.com
December 23, 2011

The allegation is clear, Newt Gingrich’s latest assertion that Ron Paul’s “volunteer base is people who want to legalize drugs” is designed to create the impression that anyone who votes for Paul is at best socially irresponsible or at worst a crack addled junkie.

The former speaker of the House made the remarks in an interview with conservative commentator John McCaslin yesterday, also taking a swipe at Paul over his foreign policy outlook.

“This is a guy who basically says, if the United States were only nice, it wouldn’t have had 9/11.” Gingrich stated, boiling down an extremely complex issue into a meaningless snipe.

“He doesn’t want to blame the bad guys. … He dismisses the danger of Iranian nuclear weapon and seems to be indifferent to the idea that Israel could be wiped out.” Gingrich added.

Anyone who has spent more than five minutes researching Ron Paul’s stance on foreign policy, and 9/11 in particular, knows that Paul subscribes to the ‘blowback’ theory put forth by multiple experts, former US intelligence officials and validated by Osama Bin Laden himself, that the US is viewed as a legitimate target because it has engaged in military occupation and preemptive war in the middle east and beyond for decades.

Furthermore, the US has also aggressively supported the Israeli military machine and the suppression of the Palestinian people.

These complex issues spearhead Ron Paul’s outlook on foreign policy, while Gingrich and the rest of the GOP candidates espouse the ridiculously myopic notion that ‘terrorists hate our freedom so they attack us’.

As regards Israel being “wiped out” by Iran, Gingrich obviously hasn’t factored in the country’s arsenal of hundreds of nuclear weapons and the fact that US intelligence admits there is little evidence of an Iranian nuclear weapons program even existing – points that Ron Paul has consistently raised in the debates.

To suggest Paul is “indifferent” to this issue is farcical.

It is the drugs remark, however, that has irked many Paul supporters the most.

As a Libertarian and a staunch critic of the federal government’s so called “war on drugs”, Ron Paul has made it clear that as president he would open up dialogue on the issue of drug legalization as a means of effectively undermining the black market, overturning racial injustice, reducing ballooning prison populations and opening up possibilities where medical use of currently illegal drugs are concerned.

Gingrich is not stupid and knows full well that these are legitimate issues, yet he has chosen to turn to negative stereotyping in an attempt to stave off his plummeting poll numbers and dwindling support in the face of Ron Paul’s recent emergence as front runner in Iowa.

The truth is that Paul is leading in the polls precisely because he treats complex political and social issues in a fashion befitting them, rather than boiling everything down into sound bites and oversimplified rhetoric, purely for the purposes of political point scoring. Paul’s message of limited government and enhanced liberties also resonates with an American public sick and tired of the overreach of the Washington political establishment.

The Congressman has also organized a rock solid caucus campaign in the early voting states.

In visits to Iowa this week, Paul has drawn large numbers of diverse voters, young and old. A recent CNN / ORC poll highlighted the fact that Paul is the only GOP candidate that appeals to voters across the political spectrum.

In a direct head to head with Obama, Paul fared significantly better than all of his GOP rivals in a wide and diverse range of population categories, including males; persons ages 18 to 34; persons under 50 years of age; persons earning less than $50k per year; persons who have attended college; crossover Democrats; self-identified liberals; self-described moderates; residents of the Northeast and Midwest geographic regions; and those residing in urban areas.

According to the poll, Paul attracts more independents than Obama by 48 to 47 percent. The Congressman also betters Obama 51 to 46 percent among white voters and betters the incumbent president 52 to 44 percent among voters residing in rural areas.

Paul also betters all the other GOP competitors against Obama where non-white voters are concerned, attracting the support of one in four non-white adults.

Yet, if Newt Gingrich is to be believed, the vast majority of these people are concerned not with the state of the nation, but purely with what drugs they would be able to get their hands on under a Paul presidency.

According to Newt Gingrich, Paul’s support base, such as those pictured here at events in Iowa this week, are purely concerned with legalizing narcotics.

Paul’s principles are steadfast and, unlike Gingrich, his message is unfaltering.

The Congressman has exposed Gingrich’s “serial hypocrisy”over the past two months in ad spots, and drawn on the fact that Gingrich effectively used his position as House Speaker to line his coffers with lobbyist money.

Gingrich’s hypocrisy seems to know no bounds, given that last week he was urging candidates not to negatively attack each other and this week he is doing just that.

UPDATE: Government censors document revealing plans to wage war on Americans. READ HERE.

NOTE: Within an hour of posting this article and linking to the pertinent document, the feds at FBO.gov have pulled the link and implied that it was a classified posting. We believe this was public and of interest to American citizens, taxpayers and peoples of the world and are in the process re-establishing an archive link of the material. Infowars has discovered new FEMA documents that confirm information received from DoD sources that show military involvement in a FEMA-led takeover within the United States under partially-classified Continuity of Government (COG) plans. It involves not only operations for the relocation of COG personnel and key officials, population management, emergency communications and alerts but the designation of the American people as ‘enemies’ under a live military tracking system known as Blue Force Situational Awareness (BFSA).

Further, this Nov. 18, 2011 FEMA-released plan National Continuity Programs (NCP) Program and Mission Support Services (PAMSS) [PDF] linked at the FedBizOpps.gov website outlines a scenario that overlays with eerie accuracy the bigger picture sketched out by concurrent calls for troops to keep order in the streets of places like New Orleans, as well as other bombshell documents like those released from KBR seeking to activate contracted staff for emergency detention centers and for services like fencing and barricades, as well as numerous agencies and think tanks who’ve prepared for civil unrest and economic breakdown in America.

Hold onto your seats. The plan for the takeover of the United States has not only been drafted, but activated. Our sources and independent research make this abundantly clear. Martial law scenarios preparing for a breakdown of order under the ongoing economic collapse are underway, even as pretexts for control are initiated in locales across the country. Bold individuals like Ron Paul have warned that dangerous legislation like the NDAA designate the American population as potential enemies. Now, there is more evidence this targeting of the people is sadly taking place.

A laundry list of operations organized under FEMA’s National Continuity Programs (NCP) provides a base of technical support for the deployment of national emergency plans and the logistical tracking of all personnel incorporated under what Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano has lovingly termed the big “federal family.”

“Friendly” military and FEMA personnnel, along with their contracted employees and those of other federal agencies, will carry transponder ID badges, like those described here, to designate their “blue” inclusive status. As our military sources have confirmed, under the Blue Force Situational Awareness (BFSA) all other American citizens and civilians are designated under the “red” category and treated as an enemy or potential unfriendly. Throughout his past investigative work including witnessing numerous military drills, Alex Jones has also witnessed the technology and the use of this alarming code branding ordinary Americans as battlefield enemies. The plan includes drone and other high-tech tools to monitor and target individuals designated under the “enemy” status.

The military’s blue force tracking technology has been adopted since 2003 in Iraq and used in theaters like Afghanistan to quickly distinguish “Blue” friendlies (including U.S. forces and allies like tribal forces) from “Red” enemies. However, on the U.S. homeland battlefield, it is the American people who will be designated under “red,” whereas cleared occupying personnel are tracked as “blue” friendlies by their ID transponder badges. The designation was set-up to reduce “friendly fire” incidents.

Blue Force and other related programs like Geospatial Information Systems (GIS), Continuity Analysis and the Command, Control, Communications and Computing (C4) operations named in the document electronically track and verify the location and clearance of COG-related personnel, the usage of emergency shelter facilities and their components as well as the military’s friendly/enemy designations– creating a matrix for live monitoring and control coordinating with FEMA databases during martial law or national emergency scenarios.

For instance, FEMA acknowledges in its documents the use of Blue Force tracking systems and other geospatial information systems to monitor the capacity and usage of its facilities under the National Shelter System and other programs. Preparations for the orderly control of the masses have already been put into place.

In particular, the Mt. Weather Emergency Operations Center outside Washington, D.C. is empowered to “coordinate, track, and synchronize the relocation of key leadership and staff from the DHS and FEMA Emergency Relocation Groups (ERG) members to perform their essential functions” during a declared national emergency using the Blue Force and other related tracking programs managed under the established joint relocation operations control center and emergency relocation programs referenced in the document. Section 1.3.4 further details the minimum ID requirements for contractor employee identification and verification.

The FEMA National Shelter System (NSS) is a comprehensive, Web-based database created to support Federal, State and local government agencies and voluntary organizations responsible for Mass Care and Emergency Assistance. The FEMA NSS allows users to identify, track, analyze, and report on data for virtually any facility associated with the congregate care of people and/or household pets following a disaster.

FEMA has also outlined detailed support for its vast Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS), proscribed under Executive Order 13407 for the federal takeover of communications. It details the continuity of emergency communications and the issuance of warnings to the public, including public-private partnerships concerned with issuing alert messages through cellular providers– a program that only recently caused panic when it was publicly tested without forewarning in New Jersey. It is designated in the document under the Commercial Mobile Alerting System (CMAS).

As we have mentioned here and detailed in the past, this is part of larger COG government takeover– not part of any ordinary natural disaster response as the media has been told. The elite have initiated worldwide economic collapse and prepared their power-grabbing response as currencies and markets fall across the globe. All the experts we’ve talked to over the years concur with this basic analysis.

To put it simply: once the economic depression has sunken in completely, the population will willingly head in droves to government centers for basic requirements like food. As Henry Kissinger bluntly quipped, “Control oil and you control nations; control food and you control the people.” FEMA’s response will hinge, in part, on just that– encouraging people sign up for their own enslavement.

Twilight Zone: USA Today Story About Ron Paul Leading In Iowa Headlined ‘Ron Paul Still Not in Lead’ – “Mainstream Republicans” decide who is leading, not actual polls of likely voters

If you thought the establishment’s tactic of ignoring who wins the Iowa primary was bizarre enough, try this one on for size. A USA Today story about how polls show Ron Paul is leading in Iowa is entitled ‘Ron Paul still not in lead’.

The mental gymnastics required to unravel this convoluted premise are somewhat intense, so concentrate…

The full title of the article, written by Jackie Kucinich, is ‘Despite money and support, Ron Paul still not in lead‘.

The gist of the story is that Ron Paul is in fact in the lead according to the polls, but because “mainstream Republicans” insist that he shouldn’t be leading, that means the voters are meaningless and that Ron Paul is in fact not in the lead.

So now we’re being told that surveys of likely voters, the three most recent of which show Paul is leading Romney and Gingrich, have no legitimacy because the establishment doesn’t like Ron Paul.

“Paul received 21.7% of potential caucusgoers, according to an average of three recent polls compiled by the website Real Clear Politics. Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney trails him slightly with 20.3% and former speaker Newt Gingrich comes in third with 15.7%,” reports Kucinich, conceding that Ron Paul is leading, but on the other hand noting that “He’s the second choice of only 9% of likely caucusgoers”.

So it matters little that Ron Paul is actually leading in Iowa, the fact that he isn’t leading the race for second place is more important. Get it? No, neither do I.

The corporate press has now moved on from trying to mislead its readers through sheer ignorance to engaging in outright brazen delusions, pretending that Ron Paul is not leading in Iowa while simultaneously having to admit the fact that he is the current frontrunner.

Just forget the actual voters, Ron Paul is only the frontrunner if the likes of CNN, USA Today, Fox News and “mainstream Republicans” anoint him as the frontrunner.

At least in places like Communist China, where dictators are hand-picked by Party members, there is no pretense of any kind of democratic process.

As we highlighted yesterday, whether “mainstream Republicans” like it or not, Ron Paul is the current frontrunner in Iowa. A New York Times Iowa primary projection, using figures collated from all the latest poll results and surveys, shows that Ron Paul is the clear favorite to win the crucial first Republican primary.

Despite polls which show Ron Paul has the best chance out of all the GOP candidates to defeat President Obama, establishment Republicans have resolved to ignore the results of the primary if Ron Paul wins, including Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, who told Politico that people should instead concentrate on who comes second and third.

Another Iowa lead for Paul

The latest Iowa State/Gazette/KCRG poll reinforces the trend showing Ron Paul to be the local favorite:

Paul is the first choice of 27.5 percent of 333 likely caucusgoers among the 740 registered Republicans and 200 registered independents contacted by ISU. That’s up from 20.4 percent in an ISU/Gazette/KCRG poll in November. He’s followed closely by former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich whose support increased from 4.8 percent to 25.3 percent. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney came in at 17.5 percent, up from 16.3. …

While Paul’s lead is easily within the margin of error, James McCormick, professor and chair of political science at Iowa State and coordinator of the poll, says the polling found that 51 percent of those naming the libertarian-leaning Texan as their first choice are “definitely” backing him.

The percentage for the next two candidates is much weaker, at 16.1 percent for Romney and 15.2 for Gingrich, McCormick said.

The poll was taken over a long period of time — Dec. 8 to 18 — so that could explain why Gingrich’s numbers look better here than they do elsewhere. The biggest takeaway, though, is that Paul-mentum is showing up in a number of places now and the intensity of his support is very real.

Iowa Governor: If Ron Paul Wins, Ignore It And Look At Who Finishes Second – Establishment reverts back to pretending Paul doesn’t exist

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad

From rightly heralding the Iowa primary as a crucial indicator as to who will eventually capture the GOP nomination, the establishment has closed ranks and now decided that a Ron Paul victory doesn’t count and that the focus will be on who finishes second.

A Politico article entitled Ron Paul panic seizes Iowa establishment perfectly illustrates the supreme arrogance of the very political elite Paul is fighting against and goes a step beyond Fox News pundit Chris Wallace’s insistence that the Iowa result “won’t count” if Ron Paul wins.

Despite the fact that two out of the last three winners of the Iowa primary have gone on to successfully capture the Republican nomination, the political class have decided that Ron Paul doesn’t deserve the opportunity to build the same kind of momentum, and that a victory for him in Iowa “would do irreparable harm to the future role of the first-in-the-nation caucuses.”

The hierarchy is so petrified at the possibility of a Ron Paul win that the state’s own Governor, Terry Branstad, has pre-empted the result by urging people to ignore Paul if he secures a first place finish and instead concentrate on who comes second.

“People are going to look at who comes in second and who comes in third,” said Branstad, adding, ““If [Mitt] Romney comes in a strong second, it definitely helps him going into New Hampshire and the other states.”

As we have seen from the Republican race thus far, the identity of the frontrunner has changed several different times. Rick Perry, Herman Cain and now Newt Gingrich all saw their campaigns rise and fall dramatically. Ron Paul is the only candidate to slowly build momentum and not suffer any major setback.

Yes, it’s true that Ron Paul’s national figures are significantly lower than both Gingrich and Romney, but the Texan Congressman would have a very real chance of overturning that deficit if his potential victory in Iowa was treated with a modicum of respect, but the establishment are determined not to let that happen. This is why we are now seeing a deluge of whining “Ron Paul can’t win” articles every day.

The establishment has gone all out to virtually sabotage the credibility of the primary weeks before it even takes place, terrified that a Ron Paul success could upset the apple cart of the two RINO establishment candidates.

In addition, the Politico piece floats the hoax that a Ron Paul win would ensure an Obama re-election, when in reality Ron Paul has the best chance of beating Obama out of all the Republican candidates.

Isn’t it fascinating that the political class doesn’t consider how Newt Gingrich, who is about as conservative as Mao Tse-Tung, would also cause “irreparable harm” to the reputation of the primary if he won? Their concern for the potential harm caused by a Mitt Romneycare victory is also notable by its absence.

Ron Paul has the most conservative voting record since 1937 – so why on earth should a Paul victory cause “irreparable harm” to Iowa?

His success in the state should be celebrated as a sign that the Republican Party is finally starting to return to its constitutional principles.
